Global Stamping Friends Extraordinary Blog Hop - Exciting Times!

Welcome to an Extraordinary Edition of the
Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop, called Exciting Times! You'll see projects from stampers from around the world--I'm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. (Note: I can only sell to customers in the US, so any prices are in USD)

This blog hop is outside our ordinary postings on the first Friday of each month, and the theme is to share Sneak Peeks at upcoming products, or to feature projects using items that will carry over, into the Stampin' Up! 2018-19 Annual Catalog, which debuts June 1st!

I was fortunate to be invited to be a Display Stamper for the recent Stampin' Up! OnStage event in Las Vegas, so I got a few Sneak Peek items ahead of the game. These are a few of the samples I made featuring the Animal Expedition Suite from the upcoming catalog. Little did I know that Stampin' Up! was going to be giving away the Animal Outing stamp set to everyone who attended the event...but still, I did get a few pieces that not everyone got.

One of the items I got was the coordinating Animal Friends Thinlits dies, which will actually be available in a Bundle with the stamp set for 10% OFF! You can see in the Ark card below, how the dies can cut out the animals quite nicely. I did do some extra trimming on some pieces, but I'll tell you more about that later in another post, where I can show you how I made the whole card.

Another couple items I received were the Leaf Ribbon which comes in the NEW Call Me Clover In Color, as well as the NEW coordinating wooden Frames Elements. I used both those items in the card below. I did not receive the Call Me Clover card stock that coordinates with the ribbon, so I used a green card stock I had lying around that was close enough to convey the coordination.

I also received a couple more stamp sets in my Display Stamper supplies box, including the one with the dashed lines image you can see in the card below. That stamp set is called Birthday Backgrounds. And, you can see more of those coordinating wooden Frames Elements in this card, as well.

Current Stampin' Supplies: Pool Party card stock, Smoky Slate card stock, Pumpkin Pie card stock, Early Espresso card stock, Sahara Sand card stock, Soft Suede card stock & ink, Cajun Craze ink pad, Basic Black Archival ink, Basic Gray Archival ink, VersaMark ink pad, Watercolor Pencils, Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, Seaside Embossing Folder (used with the Big Shot), Linen Thread, Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer (to cut and score card stock), Grid Paper.

Sneak Peek Stampin' Supplies: Birthday Backgrounds stamp set, Animal Outing stamp set, Animal Friends Thinlits die, Frames Elements, Leaf Ribbon.

If you are in the US and you want to get a hard copy of the upcoming Stampin' Up! 2018-19 Annual Catalog, drop me an email with your mailing address, and we can get that coordinated!

We Create Last-Chance Blog Hop

Welcome to the April 2018 Last-Chance Edition of the We Create Blog Hop!!! For our blog hop today, we are featuring stamp sets and colors that are going to retire from either the Stampin' Up! 2017-18 Annual Catalog, or the 2018 Occasions Catalog. My card for the hop features the We Must Celebrate stamp set, the colors Island Indigo and Chocolate Chip (plus a little Soft Sky). {Note: if any product links in this blog post fail to take you to the product in my Online Store, it means the item has sold out!}

It's tough to see it, even with the closeup below, but I added a little bit of glimmer to the Tutti Frutti Adhesive-Backed Sequins by brushing them with a bit of Clear Wink of Stella. I also used the Watercolor Pencils to add some highlights to the animals, using the white pencil on their tummies (and the bunny's tail) then going over that lightly with Wink of Stella. Neither the Wink of Stella, nor the Watercolor Pencils are retiring, by the way...I just wanted to use them on the card!

The We Must Celebrate stamp set is available in either Wood-Mount or Clear-Mount, and even though I am a wood stamp lover, I bought this set in Clear-Mount. I did that because I KNEW I would want to cut the row of animals apart to be able to use them separately. If you notice on the card above, this allowed me to ink up the raccoon in Chocolate Chip, and the bunny in Island Indigo. Cutting the images apart and stamping separately also allows me more room to trim around the stamped images.

There's just enough space between the animals to carefully cut them apart, without cutting into any part of the images. I have some special rubber cutting scissors I use for this. It's important to cut straight through from top to bottom so you don't undercut the foam. If you cut away the foam under the image, that part of the image will not be firmly supported, and may not have enough pressure to stamp evenly. Plus, if you just cut straight lines through the foam part, you can always line the separate images right back up on your Clear Blocks and use them in their original layout whenever you want!

After I cut straight through to separate the images, I go back and trim only the rubber closely around the image. I do not cut the foam close to the image, ONLY the rubber. I have to cut at an angle to get only the rubber, but taking the extra time to do this when I first get the set saves time and frustration later, because it prevents those "halos" on my project from having accidentally inked up those edges.

It's such a super cute set if you like bears, or bunnies, or raccoons, or squirrels...I'm pretty sad it's not hanging around. BUT--you can still buy it, so grab it NOW and then YOU won't have to be sad!

Watercolor Words- We Create Blog Hop

Welcome to the April 2018 Edition of the We Create Bloggers Step It Up Blog Hop, and Happy Easter Fool's Day!!! Our suggested themes for this month are: Birthdays/Signs of Spring. My card this month features the Watercolor Words photopolymer stamp set, and could actually fit in either theme.

I stamped the accent flowers using the Peekaboo Peach Ink Pad, onto Whisper White Card stock, for a contrasting pop from the Peekaboo Peach Card Stock layer to give the card a bright, fresh, Springy look. To get the centers of the flowers, I stamped an extra set of them on Whisper White Card Stock, with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad...then I cut out the centers and adhered them to the centers of the peach/white flowers. The same flower image was stamped using the VersaMark Ink Pad on that peach layer, to give it a more subtle tone-on-tone background design. The card base is Crumb Cake Card Stock, which coordinates with the greeting, which was stamped with the coordinating Crumb Cake Ink Pad.

The Watercolor Words photopolymer stamp set includes several sayings and images that can be used together, and you could easily turn this card very specifically into a Birthday card by stamping the "happy birthday" greeting from the stamp set in place of the "you're the best" greeting that I used. I offered this card in a class recently at my local library branch, and also let them choose to substitute in the "just for you" greeting if they wanted. Any of the sentiments from the set would work on this card, but I didn't want to overwhelm with that many choices!
